Case Study x Satelligence

Messaging Overhaul

The problem

Satelligence uses satellite imaging and supply chain expertise to help commodity companies reduce the deforestation and scope 3 emissions in their supply chains. That might sound simple, but back in 2021, Satelligence was struggling to find the words. They approached Other One to help make themselves understood to prospects, the sectoral media and their clients.

Satelligence uses remote sensing to monitor land-based risks for a lot of different applications. So much so that Satelligence struggled to articulate the benefits of its services, how best to promote them, which prospects to target and how to target them.

Our work

Other One researched Satelligence’s prospects, competitors and the wider market. They learned that while Satelligence were able to describe, in technical terms, what their products could do they often struggled to translate that into tangible client benefits or showcase how clients could use their services.

There’s an extent to which messaging can be written off the cuff, but, to finesse it you need to use data driven insights from the market that you’re trying to reach. Other One used statements, webinars, policies, and interviews from sustainability managers in top consumer brands, like Pepsi, IKEA, etc. They catalogued the phrases they used to describe their needs and built a vocabulary that would reframe Satelligence’s services in their client’s terms.

Other One then carried out wider SEO testing to discover what terms the media were using to talk about the services that Satelligence offered. They created a client/prospect survey, and carried out interviews with existing clients to best understand how they would describe Satelligence’s services, the benefits they derived from those services, and how they prioritised those benefits.

This information was used in a series of internal brainstorming exercises that refined Satelligence’s messaging, turning prosaic product descriptions into snappy copy that showed clients how they could benefit from Satelligence’s services.

The solution

The insights garnered allowed Other One to rewrite Satelligence’s messaging portfolio; creating taglines, brand pillars, the brand promise, USPs, solution descriptions, the LinkedIn bio, and more. The new messaging was used in Satelligence’s website, sales and marketing materials. We’ve included the 200 word company bio below.

(2021)
